Nourishing food, made unhurried

Comforting breakfasts, bright lunches and one-pan suppers built from a short shopping list. Every recipe comes with big, readable steps and an honest note on why it suits the way we eat as the years go by.

  • Eight ingredients or fewer, mostly
  • Portions for one, two or four
  • Print-friendly pages
  • Cooked twice before we publish

Each dish is made in an ordinary home kitchen, then made again by a second tester who follows only the written steps.

  • Easy on the eyes

Generous type, one action per step and quantities written out in full, so you never squint at a stovetop.

  • Guidance, not prescriptions

Our nutrition notes draw on public dietary guidelines and always point you back to your own doctor for personal advice.

Four kitchen habits worth keeping

None of these require a new diet — just small nudges that make everyday meals a little more nourishing.

  1. Put protein at every meal

An egg at breakfast, beans in your soup, fish or chicken at supper. Spreading it across the day is easier than one big portion.

  2. Drink before you're thirsty

Our sense of thirst tends to fade over the years. A jug of water on the counter is a quiet, effective reminder.

  3. Make half the plate colourful

Frozen vegetables and canned fruit in juice count too, and they last far longer than fresh.

  4. Season with more than salt

Citrus zest, garlic, ginger, smoked paprika and fresh herbs wake up dishes when taste buds get less sensitive.
